safely arrived

i am in HK!!!

1 year and a half

hmm...
only been here for one day
but i don't really think i can live in this place for the rest of my life

too crowded!!
i experienced culture shock yesterday night
haha!!
i felt like i was fainting when i was crossing the street

i guess i am too used to the country life style in my little town in japan
haha!!

don't get me wrong!
HK is a wonderful place with wonderful food!! (lots and cheap)
it's fun to travel and to visit friends

to make a living....hmm...still need to think about it...

anyways, the more important thing is

i finally got to meet my grandfather!!
(he is now 86)
i haven't seen him for 12 years!!
i was more excited than i imagined i would be
i feel blessed
i thank God for him

this morning we went for a walk together
he did tai-chi and some chinese sword exercise (it was pretty cool!!)
he told me stories when he was young
and we memorized Bible verses together while we were walking

i really do thank God for him

which is one of the most exciting thing!

i had a great weekend

lots of spontaneous moments
exactly what i needed

my boom!

マイ ブーム (my boom)
in japanese,
it's a term to refer to what you are addicted recently
in terms of habit, fashion...etc..

anyways, my recent "boom" is
STREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETCHING

i now spend about at least 20 mins to 45 mins stretching before i sleep
it's a really relaxing period for me
i sleep better too
(well, i am generally a pretty good sleeper...)
my body is pretty non flexible
i can't even touch my toes (you know, when you stand straight and try to reach your toes with your fingers...yupe, i can't do that)
so...my goal for now is to at least reach my toes
not forcefuly but like naturally

hehe!

all i want is a body that is a little more flexible

here is a pix of me stretching with my friend Megumi

(yupe! i was screaming in pain...)

unlike me

she already has a pretty flexible body

her goal?

to do the post that figure skater does when spinning (holding one of your leg with your hand...like swing your leg up backward and use your hand to hold it like above your head...know what i am talking about?)

i don't know what it calls (i am pretty sure there is a technical term for it)

i can't wait to she her goal being achieved!!

i will have my camera ready for that moment!

what did i find in my back yard??

hehe!
my first visit to the Ishikawa Zoo on last saturday

it was a sunny day
first time going to zoo on my own
it was suprisingly fun!!

it's very different from my memory of my last zoo visit "Parc Safari"
different but both fun

out of all the animals
i like tiger the most
i don't know why
maybe it's because of "Life of Pi"
i imagined myself as Pi
thus
i longed for Richard Parker
the tiger that brings comfort and assurance

for me
i don't know why
but somehow
looking at tigers calm me down
hehe!!
maybe it's a sense of fear

(ironically, the tiger in this picutre doesn't look too fearful at all)

anyways,

i had a great visit at Ishikawa Zoo

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!!

so...my first Valentine's Day in Kawakita

in japan,
on Valentine's Day
it's a habit/ tradition for girls to give chocolate to guys
thus,
everywhere in Japan is flooded with chocolate prior to Valentine's Day
it's quite a sight
especially when you visit the department stores...hehe!!

as being in Japan
i followed the tradition
that explains why I started baking out of the blue
hehe!
i bake chocolate chips cookies for my coworkers in city hall
both girls and guys
it's really fun to give!!

the joy of giving

when they are happy
i am happy!

long time no bake!

it's good to have a day off once in a while

finally got to try out the microwave oven for the first time!!!

went to shop for ingredients for chocolate chips cookies

realized that japan is not a baking friendly country

or...at least my town is not

they don't even sell chocolate chips!!!

i ended up buying chocolate bars and chopped them up..

anyways...

my house now smells like hot chocolate

and

i am happy
